We Tried

Well, my love… We tried. I'm as disappointed as you sounded that it didn't work out, but it's ok. There will be other opportunities.

But, maybe it's just another reason we really need to talk, just the two of us. Because until we do… our time together will always be at their mercy. And that… is suboptimal, to put it lightly.

I think we're both trying to navigate this in a way that leaves our conscious clean, and I love that about us. But…
